Terms of Use — Open When: Verses
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Open When Verses (the “App”), provided by Vanessa Lucena. By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
Who can use the App
The App is designed to deliver Bible verses matched to your emotions, helping you find comfort and encouragement through scripture.
If you are under 13, you must have your parent or guardian review and agree to these Terms on your behalf and supervise any subscription activity.
Licence to use the App
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the App for non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and applicable laws.
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code (except where the law allows)
- Misuse the App or interfere with its normal operation
Your content
You may save favourite verses and set a display name within the App.
Your content is stored on your device using Apple’s on-device storage. You are responsible for any content you choose to share through the App’s sharing features.
Subscriptions and billing (auto-renewable)
The App may offer an auto-renewing subscription (including optional free trials, where offered). Subscription prices and terms are set by Apple and may vary by country.
Key billing terms:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of any free trial where applicable.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before renewal.
- If you don’t want a subscription to renew, Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the end of the trial/renewal period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
RevenueCat (subscription management service)
We use RevenueCat to help manage subscription status and entitlements. As part of providing this service, RevenueCat may process purchase/receipt data and technical identifiers to manage entitlements and for security/fraud prevention purposes. Payments are processed by Apple; you will not be asked to provide full payment details to us.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. If you believe you’re entitled to a refund, you can request it from Apple where available.
Availability and changes
We may update the App, change features, or stop providing the App at any time. We don’t guarantee the App will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Intellectual property
The App, its code, design, branding, and any content we provide (excluding your saved verses and personal content) are owned by Vanessa Lucena or licensed to us. These Terms do not give you ownership rights to the App or its contents.
Bible verse content displayed in the App is sourced from public domain translations.
Disclaimer
The App is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
The App is intended for personal encouragement and is not a substitute for professional counselling, mental health support, or spiritual guidance from a qualified pastor or counsellor.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the App.
Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
